Henry Arthur Baier, 78, of Lake Toxaway, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC. Born on August 3, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Henry Ludwig Baier and Marie Anna Baier. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy upon an Ice Breaker in Antarctica. During this time is when he fell in love with the sea. He eventually picked up sailing and would sail around the peninsula of Florida with his wife, Ellen. After his time in the Navy, he settled in Boulder, CO where he raised his children and owned and operated City Plumbing and Heating Company. Henry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed taking his children camping often. They traveled all over the United States camping. Some of his other hobbies which he enjoyed were scuba diving and flying his Cessna plane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Hanson. Surviving is his wife who has been in his life for the past 22 years, Ellen W. Baier; daughter, Sherry Smith of Longmont, CO; and grandchildren: Joshua Hanson and Jonah Hanson both of Texas, and Anna Marie Smith of Denver, CO.
