Henri Louis Grandlinard Kieffer

July 21, 1952 – September 15, 2025

Henri Kieffer died peacefully September 15 surrounded by family. He graduated from William College, University of Virginia Medical School, and did his residency and fellowship at Columbia in New York. A steadfast friend, loving husband and father, self-taught gardener, avid kayaker, and adventurous traveler, Henri will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.

Dedicated to patient care and excellence in diagnostic neuroradiology, Henri brought his expertise in magnetic resonance imaging to Asheville in 1986 and helped introduce the first MRI unit to western North Carolina. He was a partner with Asheville Radiology Associates until his retirement in 2019.

Henri is survived by his brothers (J. and Eddy), wife (Ann Batchelder), and children (Austin and Olivia), as well as extended family. A celebration will occur in July 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the charity of your choice or the Center for Conscious Living and Dying (www.ccld.community).
