Harry McCurry Obituary

Harry McCurry, 70, of Fletcher passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Universal Health Care in Fletcher. Born December 2, 1952 in Asheville, NC, he was the son of June McCurry of Arden, NC. He was a graduate of Asheville High School class of 1971, and proudly served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy during the Invasion of Granada. Harry was devout to his Baptist faith. Of his many passions in life, watching a close NASCAR race, or a good football game were some of his favorites; however, nothing compared the time that he spent with his friends, Randy, Johnny, and Tim especially when casting a line to reel in a large mouth bass or larger than life channel catfish. Harry certainly possessed a magnetic personality and had a wonderful sense of humor. He is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Anderson. Surviving are his siblings, Harold McCurry (his twin) of Asheville, NC, Mary Montgomery of Arden, NC, Denise Montgomery – Pulley and her spouse, Marvin, of Fletcher, NC, and Loretta Montgomery of Asheville, NC; niece, Junea Bristol, and great-nephew, Noland Peterson. A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, February 6, 2023 in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
