Hans Osseweijer, of Asheville, North Carolina, died March 27, 2025. Born July 4, 1952, to the late Gertrude Nelly Van Delden Osseweijer and Hendrik Osseweijer in the Netherlands, he was seventy-two. Hans graduated from Northview High School & served in the United States Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Graham.
He is survived by his son, Ian-Andre McKeon-Osseweijer of Asheville; siblings, Rita Turner of Las Vegas, Nevada, Andre Osseweijer of Sherman, Texas, Eddy Osseweijer of Dickenson, Texas, and Elaine Nelson of Reston, Virginia; and Sheila McKeon, friend of thirty-years and co-parent to Ian.
Hans was known and loved by many in Asheville as the creator of the company RPM refrigeration with his good friends James and Carl, who now continue his legacy.
He worked in many of the area breweries and restaurants keeping them running cool. A celebration of life will be held Sunday the 27th of April at 4pm at Asheville Pizza on Merrimon.
Hans was a truly selfless person who could see the best in the worst situations. He was a kind person, great friend and a tremendous father. The world is a darker place without him. To all who knew him, he would not want you to be sad about his passing, but to take his words of wisdom to heart. He was not a sad man in life and he won't be in death.
Celebrate what he stood for and what he embodied, self- improvement. He was not perfect by any means but the lessons he taught were invaluable. As his son, I can not emphasize this enough, Hans was an outstanding man who did what he could to better those around him. So adopt his ideology of selflessness and help those around you. It makes me weep that more people won't be able to experience the pleasure of hearing his words. A man of true virtue is gone, help me carry his mantle of understanding and empathy. It can be hard to do especially with all the indifference in the world. But like Hans said himself, "Hard is what you make it, its up to you to decide what's difficult and what's not."
