Gerald Dale Rawls

Gerald Dale Rawls, 79, of Weaverville, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Born January 11, 1942 in Ahoskie, NC. He was the son of the late Leon Henry Rawls and Lessie Dempsy Rawls. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Jean Hensley Rawls. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister, Pete Rawls and Tush Rawls. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He was the owner and operator of Asheville Tire & Wheel for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Eddie Dockery (April), Glenda Dockery Lewis (Mark), Jimmy Dockery (Savannah); grandchildren, Eddie’s children, Anna, Eion, Ella, Elijah, Andrew, Ayden and Emma Dockery. Glenda’s son, Louis Dale Hyatt and Jimmy’s children, Shannon Dockery Beam, Samantha and Tim Dockery; great grandchildren, Faith Smeltz, Jamie, Jenny and Craig Beam, Caleb and Waylon Dockery; sisters Maxine Rawls Dunning (Earl), Eileen Liverman, Shelba Rawls Kessinger (Bill) and brother, Larry Rawls (Pat). A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Asheville Area Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services.
