George Watson Obituary

George Homer “Babe” Watson, age 85 of Candler, North Carolina passed away peacefully at his home on September 8, 2025.  Born August 18, 1940, to Neil & Kate Watson.  In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by two brothers Clyde & Robert Watson.

George was a graduate of Enka High School, class of 1958.   He proudly served our country in the US Navy.  Retired from BASF after 40 years of service.

George was extremely talented in wood carving.  He could take a crooked piece of wood and carve it into a magnificent one-of-a-kind walking stick or a peach seed into a beautiful flower or animal.  He was a true outdoor enthusiast & found great pleasure in the great outdoors hunting or fishing.  He loved being at local flea markets, chatting & telling stories with friends, which were many as he never met a stranger.  He was a man of great integrity, kindness & generosity & he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.  He was a devoted husband, a wonderful Dad & a fantastic Paw to all the grandkids.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Ann Taylor Watson.  Children Sherry Taylor (Robert), Teresa Coward (Mike), Roy & James Hensley & Anita Brock (David).

Grandchildren Michael Hensley (Veronica), Ashley Edmonds (Cody), Nathan Brock (Danielle), Samantha Edwards (Joey), Matthew Brock (Esmeralda), Joshua & Jacob Hensley.  Nineteen Great-Grandchildren.  Sisters Joan Lunsford ( Bruce), Jean Nelms (Charlie), Brother Claude Watson.  Numerous nieces & nephews. Fur babies Daisy, Snowflake & Checker & more friends you could count.

We find comfort in knowing his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the love he shared & the memories that we will cherish forever.  We will love him always & miss him forever.

At George’s request, no services are planned.
