Gary Martin Edmonds, age 72, passed peacefully from this life at the Charles George VA Hospice Center the morning of February 4, 2020. Gary was born September 6, 1947 in Asheville, NC and lived in Buncombe County most of his life. He resided in Weaverville, NC at the time of his passing.
Gary gave his life to Jesus when he was about 9 or 10 years old and continued to share the love of Jesus with others up until his death. He graduated North Buncombe High School in 1965. Gary served in the U.S. Army as a M.P. Through out his life Gary had many jobs but operating a bulldozer and driving a truck was the main careers he had. He was a Gideon for 20 years and was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church for the past 15 years. Gary collected Blue Ridge Pottery and loved classic cars and trucks.
Gary is survived by his wife of Fifty-one years, Wilma Marler Edmonds. Two sons, Garreth & wife Kimberly, and Phelan & wife Whitney. He was also blessed with two Grandchildren, Sarah Ashley Edmonds & Charles Gary Edmonds. Gary is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Robinson & Pat Edmonds, and five brothers Craig, Wesley, Lonnie, Zane, & Alan. He was preceded in death by his parents, James (Jim) Fulton Edmonds & Meece Iola Sprinkle Edmonds, and sister Elizabeth Shook.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Avenue, Asheville, NC on February 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Clark Henderson will be officiating. The visitation will follow the service.
Flowers may be delivered to the Newbridge Baptist Church between the hours of 9:00-1:00 Friday or between 9:00-12:00 on Saturday.
