Freda Jo English Thompson

Freda Jo English Thompson, age 69, born November 23, 1956 in Buncombe County passed away peacefully at Haywood Hospital on December 24, 2025, surrounded by the ones she loved.  She was a devoted mother to Joey Hawkins, Susie Haynes, and B.J. Hawkins.
Freda was known for her love, kindness, and spiritual talks.  She was a very active member with State Street Missionary Baptist and preacher, Terry Sprouse.  Freda retired from Montreat College after 36 years.
She is survived by her three children, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four sisters, and her nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Sue Payne and Boyd English, as well as her sisters, Laura Gross and Jean Smith.
