Fred Raxter Lewis, Jr.

Fred Raxter Lewis, Jr., 78, of Candler passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022. Born July 3, 1943, he was a son of the late Fred Raxter Lewis, Sr., and Bertha Elizabeth Arnette Lewis. He was a graduate of Enka High School and received his degree from North Carolina State University. Mr. Lewis proudly served in the U.S. Army and was later employed by American Enka Corp. which later sold to BASF. He was a member of the V.F.W. and Moose Lodge. Of his many enjoyments in life, listening to and playing country and blues grass music were among his favorites. He was devout in his Baptist beliefs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his spouse, Carolyn Brown Lewis. Surviving are his son, Damon Trent Lewis of Columbia, SC; and siblings: Thomas “Tony” Lee Lewis and his spouse, Jolene, of Granite Falls, Rebecca Lewis Moody of Candler, and Donald B. Lewis and his spouse, Sheila of Candler. No formal services will be held at this time.
