Franklin Pomeroy Obituary

Franklin N. Pomeroy passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of music, laughter, and generosity that touched everyone who knew him.

Frank was born September 22, 1940, in Roscoe, NY, to the late Raymond N. Pomeroy and Ruth Ann Pless Pomeroy. A gifted musician, Frank had a deep and abiding love for playing the bass, finding joy in every genre and every opportunity to perform. Whether at a casual jam session or a live performance, he was always eager to lend his talent, bringing rhythm, soul, and connection to those around him. Music was not just something he played—it was a gift he shared.

Beyond his musical talents, Frank was known for his thoughtful and generous spirit. He gave freely of his time and energy, always ready to help others and uplift those in need. A dedicated educator and professional, Frank began his career as an insurance broker in Jamestown NY and later served as a Science and Health teacher and real estate agent in Callicoon, NY. His journey eventually led him to Asheville, NC, where he found further success as a Branch Manager for Manpower, Inc. and then as owner of Comforce Staffing. Across all his roles, Frank was known for his work ethic, leadership, and the genuine connections he built with his colleagues and clients. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was an active and devoted member of his church community. Frank especially found fulfillment in providing musical instruments and instruction for the youth.

He was also an avid basketball fan and could often be found watching or talking about the game with enthusiasm—especially if Carolina was playing! Yet, it was his sense of humor and love for people that truly set him apart. Frank had a remarkable ability to bring fun and lightness to any gathering; his laughter was contagious, and his presence made every room feel warmer.

Above all, he loved his family deeply. To friends and family, he was known as Frank, Dad, and Pop-Pop. He cherished time spent together and created lasting memories filled with joy, music, and laughter. Frank’s kindness, his generosity, his faith, and the music he so freely gave to the world will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in passing by his brother, Peter A. Pomeroy.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Karen Pomeroy; children, Chris (Rowena) Pomeroy, Drew (Angie) Pomeroy, Margaret Pomeroy, Chris Bowers, Christie (Colin) Van Etten, Donald Ramsey, and Justin Ramsey; sister, Penny (Jeff) Constant; sister-in-law, Monica Pomeroy; grandchildren, Michael (Megan) Pomeroy, Ian Pomeroy, Mary Keeter, Raya Pomeroy, Rylee Ervin, Cyrus Ervin, and Gage Van Etten; great-grandchildren, Mylah Pomeroy and Peyton Pomeroy; and special friend, Mary L. Harper.
