Frank Harper Moore, 100, of Asheville, NC, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement community. Frank was born on July 14, 1920 in Scranton, PA, to the late Austin Wilford Moore and Gladys Harper. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Lillian Norwood Moore. Frank received a Masters and PhD in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He spent his teaching career as an English professor at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Frank served our country as an Ensign and radar technician in the US Navy during WWII. He was a lifelong lover of classical music and played the piano every day. Frank was an outstanding writer and poet with a phenomenal memory and extensive knowledge of literature, science and the arts. Surviving Frank is his son, Kenneth Harper Moore (Jean Kim) of Seoul, Korea; daughters, Amy Norwood Moore, of Millwood, VA, Mary Moore Ellis (Starcen), of Asheville, NC; granddaughters Emily Harper Ellis, of Millwood, VA, Carson Alexandra Ellis, of Cashiers, NC.
