Frank Dorato Obituary

     Frank Dorato, 93, of Asheville, NC, passed away on September 29th, 2020.   Frank was the son of the late Antonio and Nellie Stroup Dorato.   He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Frances Thomas Dorato, and two brothers, Mike Dorato, and Bob Dorato.

      Frank was a World War II Army Veteran serving in Germany.   Following his military service, Frank began a career in the automobile business.  He was the co-owner with his brother, Mike, of Dorato Motors, Inc.,  proudly serving customers in the area for over thirty-five years.

     He was actively involved at Beverly Hills Baptist Church for over fifty years serving as a Deacon and on many committees.   He was active with Gideons International for most of his adult life.  He participated in countless mission projects, both local and in foreign countries.  He also enjoyed anything involving his family, farming, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.

     Survivors include his sister Margaret Dorato Turner Magnan: sisters-in-law Elouise Dorato, Mary Janice Dorato, and Maggie Thomas Moore and husband Reece; daughters Brenda McElreath and husband Steve, Toni Barrett and husband Jeff; granddaughters Candace Weigel and husband Gregg, Valerie Eidson and husband Zach; and six great-grandchildren that he cherished - Riley, Caroline, Payton, Eva, Abigail, and Perry.   He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were special to him.

     All are welcome to celebrate Frank's life on Sunday, October 4th at 2:00 pm at Beverly Hills Baptist Church.  Due to COVID restrictions, this will be an outdoor service so please dress accordingly.   A private interment will occur at a later date at Bethel United Methodist Church.   Memorial donations may be made to Beverly Hills Baptist Church, 777 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
