Elva Vogelsang Hawkins

Elva Vogelsang Hawkins, 91, of Haw Creek, passed away November 28, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born in Baltimore, MD. At the age of 2 years, she was brought to Haw Creek to be raised by her Aunt and Uncle, Rosa and Lur Vogelsang. To her they were her Mother and Father.

Elva was a 1952 graduate of Biltmore High School, during her life she worked at Southern Bell in Asheville, NC and AT&T in Jacksonville, FL, Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company in Norfolk, VA. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 70 Oteen, and a member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church. She was blessed with many good friends, especially Kelly Bailey, Pat Sincey, Mary Norman, Sandy Folker and Kay Kidwell.

Survivor is her precious son Howard (Howie) Hawkins Jr. and Daughter In-Law Susan Hawkins of Haw Creek; nieces, Pamela Buch of Forest Hill, MD, Janice Guerlter of Conowingo, MD; and nephew, Fred Vogelsang Jr. of Forest Hill, MD. A memorial service will be held at a later date
