Elizabeth "Betty" Gordy Whittington

Elizabeth Gordy Whittington, "Betty", of Asheville, NC, passed away March 29th, 2023 in Buncombe County at the age of 91. Following the death of her mother, Nannie Lee Allison Gordy in 1937, Betty resided at Mills Home Orphanage, in Thomasville, NC, through high school. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Whittington, "Dick", son David Whittington, (Denise Dryden), of Asheville, NC, as well as Aunts, Kitty Allison Tomberlin and Connie M. Allison, also of Asheville, NC. Betty is survived by a son, Steve Whittington, (Shirley), of Alexander, NC, and grandchildren, Joya Whittington, (Mikiko Yui), of San Francisco, California, Ross Whittington, (Jesame McClellan), of Asheville, NC, Laura Whittington of Asheville, NC, and Ryan Whittington, (David Hewett), of Salisbury, NC, and 8 great grandchildren.

The family plans a celebration of life at a later date.
