Romans 8:38–39: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord".

In the early afternoon on Veterans’ Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Edwin Albert Juszczyk, age 97, of 9 Campbell Circle, Asheville, North Carolina and 1215 Casedale Street, LeHigh Acres, Florida entered into the church triumphant.  Edwin was born on August 22, 1928 and was the oldest child of Albert and Mary Marek Juszczyk of DuPont, Pennsylvania and the husband of Mary Sue Jones Juszczyk of the home.

During his career, Edwin was an Electrical Engineer with American Enka Corporation that later became BASF. While living in Brooklyn,  New York as a young man, Edwin worked as a paper boy and later became an airplane pilot owning his own plane. He worked as a electrical technician, wiring the early Atlas-A rockets that later models would  launch John Glenn into space. He loved to talk about science and history and was an avid reader with a well-rounded and extensive library.

Edwin was a member and Elder of Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church and served with the Gideons for many years  He was a devout Christian who would often share his faith with others and spent many Tuesday mornings in attendance as a faithful member of the West Asheville Men’s Prayer Breakfast. He was also a longtime member of the Asheville Rifle and Pistol Club.  Edwin proudly served his country by volunteering in the United States Air Force near the end of WWII as a radio Morse Code operator stationed at Indian House Lake in Canada. He was very proud of his military service as a WWII veteran   He was a true patriot and loved his country very much.

In addition to his parents, Edwin was pre-deceased by his sisters Dorothy Juszczyk and Gloria Juszczyk Buckner, wives Genevieve Nikiel Juszczyk and Lenora Haynes Juszczyk and step-daughter, Gerry Bair.

Edwin  is survived by his stepchildren, Karl Jones of Boynton Beach, Florida, Patricia Freeman (Robert) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Larry (Sue) Jones of Henderson, Texas and Les (Valerie) Jones of Laurens, South Carolina and his step son-in-law, William Bair of Lenoir, North Carolina. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12  great grandchildren who were blessed to call him PaPaw or GrandPa Edwin.

The family gives special thanks to Four Seasons Hospice and especially Nurse Ivy Johnson for her compassionate care of Edwin during his final days. A Memorial Service will be held at Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church, 2 Bear Creek Road, Asheville, North Carolina,  on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:30pm and officiated by Reverend Walt DeHart of the church.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at StJude.org as Edwin was a longtime supporter of the work of saving our most vulnerable from cancer.
