Earnest Darrell Petty

Earnest Darrell Petty, 71, of Asheville, passed away March 21, 2022 at Asheville Specialty Hospital.
Earnest was born September 1, 1950 to the late Fielden Darrell Petty and Annie Catherine Holman Petty. He is also preceded in death by his son, Darrell Lee Petty.
Earnest proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972. He was a member of the Mitchell Detachment 1266 USMC. He enjoyed cars and family and was always helping others.
Surviving are his daughters, Lynn Farmer (Rick) of Butler, TN, Denise Holman of West Jefferson, NC; son, John Gray (Sarah) of Hickory, NC; brothers, Steven Petty of Todd, NC, Danny Petty of Todd, NC; sister, Rachel Ellison of Damascus, VA; granddaughters, Beverly Price of Lansing, NC, Brittany Holman of Boone, NC, Brooklyn Holman of Boone, NC, Amanda Holman of Wilkesboro, NC, Montana Haven Gray of Hickory, NC; grandsons, Dakota Farmer of Butler, TN, Zackery Bradley, Christopher Bradley, Demitri Mahala; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive; special friends, Everette Ponder of Asheville, Dennis Combs of West Jefferson NC, Gary Fisher of Asheville, NC, Jim Duncan of Spruce Pine, NC, Jimmy Hicks of Asheville, NC, and Mannon Proffitt of Asheville, NC.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Asheville Area Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services with visitation starting at 1:00 PM. Pastor Jimmy Hicks will be officiating. Flowers may be delivered to the funeral home. Donations may be made to the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots or to the Shriners.
