Douglas (Doug) H. DuRose passed away on April 29th, 2026 at the age of 62, leaving behind a life that was entirely, unapologetically his own.
Doug grew up in Ohio but spent most of his career in film working in California. His list of credits are long, but the movies and shows he most enjoyed talking about were The Middle, Blue Velvet, Unstoppable, Meet the Fockers, Field of Dreams, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Miller’s Crossing, and Earth Girls Are Easy (though he probably just liked talking about this one for the title). A master prop manager behind the scenes, Doug also took his acting roles very seriously. His best credit is playing Mojo JoJo, running around the house trying to catch the formidable PowerPuff Girls, Blossom and Bubbles, played by his daughters, Rachel and Sophia respectively.
Doug lived on his own terms, with a perspective that didn’t always follow the expected path but was unmistakably his. Whether he was playing pranks on the set of The Bucket List or having a beer (or many) with Jason Segel during the filming of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Doug showed up exactly as he was—unfiltered, sharp, and impossible to forget. Those who knew him came to appreciate his dry wit, his complexity, and the love that lived beneath the surface.
He was a storyteller, with a memory full of moments that could make you laugh, shake your head, or both at once. His stories will remain ingrained in the minds of those who knew him, retold and relived in the years to come. Doug embodied his favorite phrase, a ‘jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.’ He always had some unexpected skill to whip out and impress with.
He loved what he loved, without apology: his guns, his coins, his late-night cop cam YouTube videos, a good steak, and, of course, his family (maybe in that order, depending on the day). Beneath it all was a care that revealed itself in his own way and on his own terms.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sophia DuRose and her husband Enzo Erazo, and Rachel DuRose and her fiancé Sanjay Pitchai; his sister-in-law Christy and her son Til; his sister, Carrie Shaughnessy and her husband Tim Shaughnessy; and his beloved confidant, Maggie the Cat, whose favorite place on the planet was right on top of his chest. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard DuRose; his mother, Nancy DuRose; and his brother, Steve DuRose.
Doug leaves behind not just memories, but a presence that will be felt in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the quiet moments where he would have had something to say—usually something unexpected.
Have fun, Doug, in the great range in the sky.
