Donald Clyde Thomas, age eighty-four, died July 13, 2025, in Candler, North Carolina at the home of his daughter Susie where he lived. He was born in McDowell County January 6, 1941, to the late Thomas Paul Thomas and Evogene Hyatt Thomas. Donald was a previous resident of Weaverville, North Carolina. He was a preacher of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Gentry Thomas; and siblings, Peggy Masters, Patsy Penland, Edna Concota and Dean Thomas.
Donald is survived by his children, Teresa Rice (David) of Weaverville, Donna Henson (Eddie) of Canton, Susie Waldrup (David Sledge) of Candler, Kevin Thomas (Angie) of Marshall, and Jeannie Blackwell (Chris) of Leicester, sister, Faye Whittemore of Henderson County; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at six o’clock the evening of Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church (870 New Stock Road, Weaverville). Rev. Ronald McMahan will officiate. A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at five o’clock.
