Dennis James Dunnigan

Dennis James Dunnigan was born on November 1, 1955 to James Remegius and Rosetta Elizabeth Dunnigan in San Mateo, CA.  He passed away at the age of 69 on January 16, 2025, in Hendersonville, NC surrounded by his immediate family.

Dennis grew up in San Jose, CA and graduated from Blackford High School in 1974 before earning his BS in Accounting from Santa Clara University in 1978.  Dennis began his career at Arthur Andersen, where he earned his CPA license and met his wife Trudy Louise Oppriecht.  The two were married at Mission Santa Clara de Asís on November 21, 1987. 

Dennis had two sons, Dennis James and Kevin Kane.  He worked as a financial consultant for Regent Pacific Group while Trudy raised their sons.  In 1998, Dennis moved his family to Valley Springs, CA, where he and Trudy built two custom homes.  When Dennis and Trudy both retired, they moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina in 2021.  He returned to California to officiate his son’s wedding in 2023. 

Dennis was active in his communities; he served as a troop leader for Boy Scouts of America, a board member for Calaveras County Board of Education, and the treasurer of the Ridgeview Home Owner’s Association.  Dennis enjoyed taking road trips in his motorhome, BBQing, and being the life of every party.  He is fondly remembered for his sense of humor, his love of football (go 49ers), his enthusiasm for cars, and his affection for animals and children.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Trudy, as well as his sons, Dennis and Kevin, and his sister, Rosanne Mary Adona.
