Reverend Doctor Delmas E. Hare of Fletcher, NC passed away on April 14th. He was 92 years of age.
Dr. Hare, born in Cullman, Alabama, was a graduate of Berea College (Berea, KY), The University of the South School of Theology (Sewannee, TN), & Emory University (Atlanta, GA). Before retiring and moving to Fletcher, Dr. Hare was employed by Fulton County Schools as an Honors Literature Teacher at Westlake High School. He was also an active member of the Episcopal church, holding various leadership roles since 1961.
Delmas is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mabel, sister Annette Ellenburg, daughter Rebecca Lehman (Scott), sons David (Ann) and Clifford Hare, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, along with nieces, nephews and sisters in law.
A remembrance service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Food Pantry at St. Johns Episcopal Church in his honor. Their physical and mailing address is 339 S Main Street #289, Marion, NC 28752.
