David Richard "Snuffy" Smith

David Richard “Snuffy” Smith, age 62, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on March 18, 2025 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville.  David was born in Asheville, NC on April 24, 1962 to Oris Luther Smith, of Asheville, and the late Glenda Lucille Jennings Cannon.  David was a retired 18-wheeler truck driver and a former employee of Wilsonart in Fletcher, NC.  David enjoyed fishing, “souped” up hot rods, working on projects to repair at home, or helping others with their home projects. If there was something to repair, David was the one we most often called. But most importantly, I am forever grateful for the care and support he provided our mother in the final years of her life. 

David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Flora Jennings, Carl Jennings, Oris Smith, and Clara Smith.  He is survived by siblings, Karen Smith Connor, of Asheville, Ashleigh Smith, of Wilmington, NC, and Justin Smith, of Asheville.  He is also survived by his stepmother, Synda Smith (Oris Smith) of Asheville; his uncle, Richard Smith, of China Grove, NC; his aunt, Faye Smith, of Asheville; his nephew, Evan DeLucca, of Asheville; cousins, Marie Mack, Deborah Mack, Ricky Smith, and Sandy Smith; great-niece and nephew, Ellie Beck and Madden.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in celebration of David’s life.
