David P. Schell

David P. Schell of Black Mountain NC, 79, passed away on Sunday, May 16th at Solace Hospice Center in Asheville with his family present. David was born in Troy, NY to Elizabeth (Betty) and Philip Schell. David taught Social Studies at Gowanda Central High School in NY from '63 to '79 before moving to NH where he built his home and started a family. He worked as executive director of the New Hampshire Auto Dealers Association for many years. After retiring, he moved to Asheville, NC and enjoyed hiking in the mountains with his two rescue dogs, partaking in local foods, and taking trips to the Outer Banks. He volunteered with the Animal Compassion Network and Brother Wolf Rescue and helped with adoptions, events, and dog transporting. David also volunteered with the LEAF community in Black Mountain. He is survived by his two children Jason Schell and Caitlin Schell and her partner Michael Mattil, his sister Linda Jackson as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. There is no service planned at this time. Memorial donations can be sent to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue to honor him and his dedication to the wellbeing of animals.
