David Nelson McCorkle

David Nelson McCorkle, 68, of Asheville, NC, passed away October 26, 2024, at the Charles George VA Medical Center. David was born May 5, 1956, in Wichita, KS, to the late Gordon Allen McCorkle and Helen Nelson McCorkle. He proudly served our county in the US Air Force.

Surviving David is his brother Scott A. McCorkle of Austin, TX, sister Sue M. Pitre (Al) of Houston, TX and niece Sarah Pitre (Henri Mazza) of Austin, TX.

David graduated from Monett High School in Monett, MO. He studied history at Hastings College and Missouri State University.

As a weather observer with the US Air Force, he developed a love for meteorology and upon discharge he worked as a civilian employee for the US Air Force in their weather department.

His hobbies included collecting vintage vinyl LPs, music CDs, coins and any history related news.

He is survived by many loving family members and friends
