Our dear, sweet Clarissa Madison Ward went on to be with the Lord on June 20th at the age of 21 after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. She was a top student all her life, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies at The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Clarissa was born on July 10th, 1998 in Asheville, North Carolina. She is survived by her parents, Roger and Tammy Ward; her sister and best friend, Abigail Ward; her boyfriend who never left her side, Joshua Carillo; her Grandparents, Dave and Gwen Weeke, Ron and Gloria Ward, Joyce Dayton and Red West; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all adored her deeply.
Even with an unfair life diagnosis, she had an unwavering faith in God, which she radiated and loved to share with those who got to experience her light. Her stoic sense of peace, her compassion for others, and her strong devotion to the Lord were nothing short of heroic.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Caring House. A memorial fountain will be honored in her name. The Caring House granted Clarissa and her family some peace of mind by providing a healing, positive, and supportive environment to rest during Clarissa’s travel and treatments.
