Cheryl May Moody

Cheryl May Moody passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at her home in Hendersonville NC.

She was born on November 29, 1946, to the late Ada May and Harry Claude Fincher in Logansport, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Harvey Moody, her son Michael Shane Moody, granddaughter Brooklyn Abigail Gorrell, brothers Vance, Chet, and Harry Fincher and sister Mary.

She is survived by her sister Shelby Appleton and her nieces Carol Stewart and Sherry Hecox, special niece Teresa Zinn and beloved nephew Mike Fincher and his wife Mary Kay.  She is survived by her daughters Mara Queen (Rick), Karla Bugg (Robert), Misty Gorrell (Chris), and Karen Morton (Todd).

She is also survived by her grandchildren Brittany Fortner, Karleigh Bugg, Karson Bugg, Jesse Moody, Bradley Gorrell, and Sarah Morton and her great grandchildren Kinleigh, Lennon, and Beau Fortner.  She leaves behind her faithful buddy “Sammie”, who never let her out of his sight.

She retired in 2011 and enjoyed sewing, making jewelry, crafts, gardening, and she loved birds, especially hummingbirds.  She enjoyed picnics and drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  She loved and was thankful for her neighbors Gail, June, Rody, Elizabeth, Janet, Chuck, and Mike.

A private service will be held at a later date.
