Charles Wayne Ploss, 72, passed away peacefully at home in Etowah, NC on Monday, August 21, 2023.
Charlie was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts to the late Charles George Ploss and Marilyn Gertrude Ann McKay Ploss.
He was a graduate of Hesser College with an associate’s degree in business after having attended Merrimack High School in New Hampshire.
Charlie met his soulmate, Brenda in Merrimack, NH when he sold her a computer from Radio Shack where he was the Manager. Their eyes met, he blushed, and it was kismet. Shortly thereafter, Charlie and Brenda moved to Asheville, NC to begin their life together.
He worked for Sam’s Club (Walmart) in Marketing and Training for 28 years. He was a happy soul with a welcoming smile, always meeting people that would become life-long friends.
Charlie was passionate about life, his family, friends, his puppies, and his kitten. His special interests included cooking, fishing, gardening, and golfing.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Brenda Gail Hungerford Ploss of 27 years; sons, Charles M. Ploss (Laura), Corey R. Ploss (Alicia); sisters, Suzanne Andrews, Wendy Krupicka (Robert), Cynthia Sergi (Rudy Whitted), Christi Racine (Lenny); brother, Mark Ploss (Terri); grandchildren, Tyler, Owen, Carson, Calan, Annabella, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sibling, Mike Ploss (Sue) and grandson, Charles Andrew Ploss.
He was dearly loved and adored by his in-laws, the late Jimmy and Martha Hungerford.
A time of love and reflection will be held at the Worldwide Baptist Tabernacle, 85 Choctaw St., Asheville, NC 28801, on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 12:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Reverend James Grant.
