Cathy Sue Hyatt Derrick

Cathy Sue Hyatt Derrick, 65, of Leicester passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals of Asheville, NC.  Born February 28, 1956, in Asheville, NC, she was a daughter of Bobby Eugene Hyatt of Asheville and the late Emma Mae Henson Hyatt. She attended Clyde A. Erwin High School and retired from King Bio. In healthier days, she enjoyed camping and roaming the mountains she loved. In later days, she devoted herself to her grandsons. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rick Derrick.  In addition to her father, she is survived by her children, Travis Jordan and Rachelle Derrick both of Asheville, NC; sisters, Ann Howell and her spouse, Charlie, of Asheville, NC, Laura Blake and her spouse, Mike, of Las Vegas, NV, Kelly Hyatt and her fiancé, Matt Helmick, of Bridgeport, WV, and Jeanie C. Doyon and her spouse, Mike, of Asheville, NC; grandsons, Nevada Derrick and Tyrell Washington both of Asheville, NC, and numerous other extended family members.  No services will be held at this time.  Donations may be in her honor to the American Cancer Society of NC, P.O. Box 11796, Charlotte, NC 28220.  The family would like to thank the Messino Cancer Center for the great care that they provided.
