Calvin LeFain Davis, 85, of Candler passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, NC. Born July 14, 1936, in Haywood County, he was a son of the late Theodore Hunley Davis and Myrtle Rachel Kuykendall Guy. He was a graduate of Enka High School and received an associates degree from A-B Technical College. Proudly he served in the U.S. Army and afterwards was employed by American Enka and Wilson Art. He was a member of Laurel Hill U.M.C., Moose Lodge, and was a volunteer fireman for Upper Hominy Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his spouse, Dorothy Mae Davis; son, Monty LeFain Davis; and significant other, Elsie House. Surviving are his children, Mary Jessica Halstead and her spouse, Jonathan, of Anchorage, AK and Margaret A. Davis of Hendersonville, NC; siblings, Earl S. Davis and his spouse, Janie, of Candler, NC and Sylvia Jo Davis of Burnsville, NC; and grandchildren: Malcolm Davis and his spouse, Jaime, Nathaniel Halstead of Anchorage, AK, Sarah Halstead and Emily Halstead both of Clearwater, FL, Codie Mertens of Hendersonville, NC, and Brandie Mertens of Murrells Inlet, SC. The family will be holding a private graveside service.
