Caitlin "Catie" Cook Obituary

Caitlin Rose-Mae Cook, (Catie Rose Bud) 31, gained her angel wings on Thursday, November18, 2021. Catie was born in Asheville, NC and grew up near Black Mountain in the Broad River community at Rosy Branch Farm. A child of the forest, she spent much of her time outdoors connecting with nature. She loved to take long walks gathering flowers, moss, stones or anything that caught her fancy to bring home to create a work of art.

She was an accomplished writer and loved to journal her thoughts and adventures. She had a unique philosophy on life, a passion for science and for healing and saving the planet. What she couldn't put into words, she would capture in her artwork or express in music. She had a beautiful voice. Catie also enjoyed her yoga and meditation. Her spiritual connection was woven through everything she embarked upon. She loved going to church and singing praises to God.

Most palpable was her love for people and her ability to make people laugh. Catie never missed an opportunity to show children how important they were through the playful time she spent with them. She was fun loving, spirited and often had an unstoppable exuberance when others gave up.

Over the years Catie's addiction took her through rough times. Fall down 7 get up 8 was often quoted. Her courage, determination and The Lord would lift her up and she would pull up her bootstraps and surge forward. She was a strong advocate for her partner, Spencer, and her sisters and brothers in recovery whom she cherished. All of this she manifested in the form of an amazing crochet recovery blanket which she was known to carry with her to add to her story.

Catie will now be reunited with her beloved Max, her fur baby best friend.. She leaves behind a family who loves her fiercely and whom she loved with all her heart, her father Barry Eugene Cook, her mother Eileen Marie (Gregory) Cook, her sisters Melanie Robinson (Delaine) and Melisa Lane (Darryl), and her brother Orry Brion Cook (Kricket). She will also be missed by her niece Cadence and nephew Austin and her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and by her sweet Granny, Eleanor McGettigan Gregory.

A Celebration of Life, to be announced, will be held at a later date.
