Barbara Joyce Igney Carothers

Barbara Joyce Igney Carothers, 72, of Fletcher, NC passed away January 25, 2025 at the CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville, NC.

Barbara was born on January 13, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her mother, Jacqueline Eley Igney who died in 1985.

Barbara graduated from Snider High School in Fort Wayne, IN in 1971. Employed as a telecommunications specialist with the USDA Forest Service and E.F. Hutton / Shearson Lehman, she left this field to raise her daughters. Barbara enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her daughters, husband, and pets.

Surviving Barbara is her loving husband of 42 years, William Carothers; father, Audis Leroy Igney of Fort Wayne, IN; daughters, Caileigh Carothers (Todd Topley) of Fort Worth, TX, Alyssa Carothers of Cary, NC; brothers, Michael Igney (Brenda) of Fairview, TN, Richard Igney (Connie) of Fort Wayne, IN; Step-grandchildren, Carter Topley, Cohen Topley, and Peyton Topley of Fort Worth, TX; and extended relatives in various states including aunts, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Barbara’s family would like to send their gratitude to the nurses at the CarePartners Solace Center for their support and kindness during the last weeks of Barbara’s life. In honor of Barbara’s wishes there will be no services following cremation.
