Angela Harris Cannon

Angela Harris Cannon, 71, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022. A native of Buncombe County, Angela was the daughter of the late Chalmers “Pete” Harris and Mary Sue Harris Hill.

Angela retired from Asheville City Schools after 32 years as a beloved teacher to her 7th and 8th grade math and science students. She then continued her passion of teaching by teaching preschool at Merrimon Avenue Baptist. In her free time, she loved to read, knit, spend time with friends and grow spiritually. Angela loved people, animals, trees, mountains and stars. Angela did not have her own children, but she was an amazing aunt and great aunt.

Angela was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church for 40 years and is now a member of Fellowship Asheville. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota, and a supporter of the Asheville Humane Society and Compassion International.

She is survived by her siblings, Carol Watkins (Taylor), Mike Harris (Debbie), Pete Harris (Myna) and many nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, May 2 at Fellowship Asheville, 756 Fairview Rd. from 3:00pm-4:00pm with a memorial service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in her memory to the Asheville Humane Society or Compassion International.
