Alvin Littrell, 63, peacefully passed away on July 20, 2025, at home with family after battling an extensive terminal illness.
Native to Buncombe county, Alvin was the son of the late Harold A. Littrell Sr. (d:1995) and Louise D. Littrell (d:2009), He was the baby brother to five sisters and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Alvin loved the mountains so much, he and his wife, Sonja Lunsford Littrell, of forty-three and a half years, decided to plant their family roots in WNC. Together they raised six children: Jennifer, Timothy, Jacob, Hunter, Samuel, Stephanie. Alvin was known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren: Karlie, Gracie, Eli, Alex Chloe and one great-grandchild: Raelynn. Alvin loved his family dearly, and they meant more than anything in the world to him.
For over 30 years, Alvin worked for Scana/Dominion Energy. He became an expert of natural gas and was “pit trained” for natural gas fires. During his spare time, Alvin loved going carp fishing and riding motorcycles with his wife and family. After retirement, Alvin became a football enthusiast, he loved some Kansas City Chiefs! He enjoyed watching old westerns, playing cards and spending time with family.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this time. Interment will be held at a later date at the “Littrell/ Lunsford” family cemetery located in Alexander, NC.
