Achillo “Augie” Vliet

Achillo “Augie” Vliet, age 66, of Weaverville, NC passed away on December 17, 2025 at his residence surrounded by family.  Augie was born in South Amboy, NJ on February 5, 1959 to the late Harry Vliet and Grace Bartholdi Torres.

Augie proudly served our country during the Vietnam era in the U.S. Army.  Throughout his life, he had a love for WWE, cars, his grandkids, collecting watches, music, singing, and watching his son’s band play.

Augie is preceded in death by his spouse, Laurie Jo Blitz.  He is survived by his children, Phillip Monroe (Nicole), of Weaverville, NC, Matthew Buffa, of NJ, and Mariel Wolcott (Mike), of Barnegat, NJ.  He is also survived by his siblings, Harry Torres, of NJ and Teresa Torres, of Puerto Rico; and his grandchildren, Kaitlynd Monroe, of Marion, NC, Madisen Monroe, of Weaverville, Abbigayle Monroe, of Weaverville, NC, Brayden Monroe, of Weaverville, NC, Austin Wolcott, of Barnegat, NJ, and Casey Gill, of Barnegat, NJ.
