Yvonne “Vonnie” Keener Fowler Petersen, 82, died January 04, 2018 at Marjorie McCune Community in Black Mountain. In hospice care for many months prior to her death, Petersen walked on peacefully in her sleep. Petersen was born on September 15, 1934 in the Meadow Fork community of Madison County, NC. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Beulah Keener Bates and father Carroll T. Fowler. She leaves her daughters, Dianne M. Filip (Joe) and Lynne S. Petersen; her son Daniel O. Petersen (Kathi); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; cousins; and their families, each one much loved. She enjoyed a lifetime of learning and creativity, earning her Associates degree, gardening, sewing and becoming an amateur ventriloquist. She was a member of the Toastmaster’s International, the Eastern Star, the American Business Women’s Association, and the Red Hat Society. She retired as a CNA from the Black Mountain Center’s Alzheimer’s Unit. A small memorial celebration was held at the Marjorie McCune Community chapel.
