It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra King Henson, known to many as “Granny Red,” announces that she went to join her late husband, Wilburn Buster Henson, on his birthday, June 7, 2019. What a celebration they are having! A lifelong resident of Candler, daughter of the late Paul and Francis “Tetty” King. She was preceded in death by her grandson Chris Peeler; siblings James Paul King, Robert King, Ina Mae Foster, Pauline Searsey, and Janice Davis. She is survived by her sister Joyce Propest; daughters Sharon Sebring, Donna Peeler (husband Ron), and Renee Henderson. Grandmother to Delana Newton, Chuck Henderson, Danny Hamlin, Andy Hamlin, and Brittney Peeler. Great grandmother to six and great, great grandmother of one. She retired from American Enka. She was a lifelong gardener and proud member of the WNC day lily club. She found enjoyment reading cookbooks and novels, especially ones written by Stephen King. She enjoyed traveling while living life to the fullest, but nothing was more important to her than her family. A celebration of her life will be held on June 22, 2019 at 4:00 at 655 Pole Creasman Rd. Asheville, NC 28806.
