Welcome to the memorial page for

Sandra Lee Denny Bergman

August 7, 2017

Sandra Lee Denney Bergman, beautiful daughter and mother died after a short illness at The Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina on August 7, 2017. Sandra was born in Kansas City, Kansas and is preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Opal Denney.

Sandra is survived by her brother, James Denney and his spouse, Lelani; although those that will miss her most are her children- son, Jacob Bishop, and his wife, Laurie; Daughter, Jamee Mckinzie and her Partner, Amanda Hunter; and finally her daughter Christa Bishop-Hallmark, and her spouse, Brad.
Her three grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Bishop and Griffin Hallmark will miss their “Grammy” very much.

Sandra graduated from Washington High School and grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. She married and after her third divorce vowed “to never do THAT again!” Sandra worked as a Cost Engineer at major construction sites throughout the United States and was often the only women on site and in the boardrooms. She claimed she wasn’t a Feminist and asked if she ever attended any marches or rallies for Women’s Rights, Sandra replied, “I had to work that day.”

In retirement, Sandra enjoyed spending time with her beloved Denney cousins and her family. She was ready for a card game of any sort any time and was a stickler for the rules! Her macaroons are famous, and her meatballs were out of this world.
I do not think that Sandra would want you all to be sad or mourn her death, instead choose to celebrate her life and spread love.

If you want to honor Sandra’s life, donations can be made to Four Seasons Hospice c/o the Elizabeth House 581 South Allen Road Flat Rock, NC 28731. Or, we also encourage you to donate to or your favorite charity. She would have liked that.

She always used to tell us that she, “Loved us up from the sky and back down” and we know that will always be true.
