Richard Tydings "Ty" Hodges

Richard Tydings “Ty” Hodges, 68 of Ashevlle, NC was called home on December 06, 2019. He was predeceased by his parents Richard E. Hodges and Dorothy D. Hodges and his brother Mike Hodges. He is survived by his adoring wife of 30 years, Theresa E. Hodges, and his daughter Carly M. Hodges-Edwards and her husband Robert J. Edwards. He was a caring uncle to Todd Elliott,  Ryan Elliott and Dawn Kownacki. Ty was born in Miami, Oklahoma on December 06, 1951. He resided on the beloved island of  Key Biscayne, FL for the majority of his life and attended University of Miami School of Law (Go Canes!) where he received his Juris Doctorate. He practiced law in Miami for many years as a Workers Comp Attorney and later became a Workers Comp Mediator. In 2012, Ty and Theresa moved away from South Florida and split their residence between Melrose, FL and Asheville, NC. Along the way, Ty made countless friends that brought him endless joy. Ty’s mind was one that rivaled great scholars that housed what seemed to be infinite knowledge on many subjects. He was incredibly passionate about the current political atmosphere and was unapologetic about his political opinion. Through his courageous battle with Cancer, he remained the same Ty that we all knew and loved. While he will be indescribably missed, we will all carry the wonderful memories that we all have in our hearts for eternity. A celebration of Ty’s life will be held at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Bernie Sanders for President 2020 Campaign.
