Phyllis Horvitz Green

Phyllis Horvitz Green, 90, of Black Mountain passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Givens Highland Farms Healthcare Center. Born July 23, 1927 in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late David and Jennie Horvitz. She was an alumnus of Youngstown State University where she received a B.S. in Social Work. Residing in Boardman, OH for many years, she was employed by the state of Ohio’s Department of Mental Retardation. Later after relocating to the Asheville area she worked for the Buncombe County Library System. She was a member of both the Bridge Club and Mahjong Club of Black Mountain. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Israel “Sonny” Green, and brother, Archie Horvitz. Surviving are her daughter, Cindy Green and her spouse, Michael Price, of Black Mountain; grandchildren, Emily Moses of Old Fort, and Dylan Moses and his spouse, Katie Smith, of Huntsville, AL; and step-grandchildren, Nathan Price of Raleigh, Cory Price of Leicester, and Adalynn Price of Leicester. No services will be held at this time. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Givens Highland Farms Healthcare Center for their excellent care of Mrs. Green in her final days.
