Patricia del Cano Obituary

After a year-long battle with lung cancer, Patricia Day del Cano, 66, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in Asheville, NC. Pat was born on August 9, 1951 in Brookville, PA, to Homer and Luanna Day. She was the middle child, and only daughter. After moving to the Seneca Falls area in 1964, Pat first attended Romulus schools, then graduated from Mynderse Academy in 1969. She attended Corning Community College, SUNY Potsdam and Cayuga Community College. Armed with a love of numbers, as well as Associates Degrees in both Math & Science and Accounting, Pat worked for several small businesses in accounting and payroll. She worked at Sylvania until the company moved to Michigan in the early 90s. Later she worked in Rochester, NY and Rome, GA before returning to Seneca Falls to help care for her mother. The love of numbers also crossed over into Pat's personal life and she could often be found creating beautiful counted cross-stitch gifts for her friends and family. Pat was a gentle spirit and loving soul. Her smile would light up the room and a hug indicated that everything would be alright. She was soft spoken, but fierce. It was this fierceness that allowed her to battle the cancer. She did so with grace, courage, and hope. Pat is predeceased by her father, Homer E. Day (1979). Left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughter Terri del Cano, and her husband Don Williams, Jr., of Asheville, NC, along with grandpuppies Elizabeth and Phoebe; son Matthew del Cano, and his fiancé Carla Wood, of Waterloo, NY, along with grandchildren Sarah, Rebbecca, Jesse, and Marshall; mother Luanna (Brown) Day of Seneca Falls, NY; brother Michael Day, and his wife Janice, of Shaftsbury, VT; brother Brian Day of Seneca Falls, NY; and two nieces and several cousins. To allow the family time to grieve, a celebration of Pat's life will be held at a date to be determined closer to her Birthday in August. Pat's ashes will be laid to rest with her father, and awaiting her mother, in Somerset, PA. The family wishes to thank friends, family, and the community for thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. (Mom, we love you! We will see you again - The Kids) Memorial contributions can be made in Pat’s name to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
