Maureen Silvia Guinen

Maureen Silvia Guinen, 76, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at her home in Asheville, NC.

Maureen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She retired from Suntrust after a long career in banking. She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Richard Guinen; sons, Brian, Robert, and Mark Murphy; and parents Tobias and Mary Silvia. Though Maureen and Richard enjoyed a journey that took them to California and Western North Carolina, Maureen was always a New Englander at heart.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Robin Murphy of MA; grandson, Richard Murphy of CA; brother, Joseph Silvia of WI, sister in-law Barbara Silvia of RI and niece Donna; cousin in-law Beck Mello, of Weaverville and her family Roy, Corie, Natalie, and Patrick; special friends Derek Weekley and Michelle Keenan, Megan Kieninger and little Effie; and the rest of Maureen’s caring neighbors, especially the children.

After losing her beloved Rick in 2018, their dog Hookah kept a watchful eye on his mama, staying by her side during her battle with pancreatic cancer. Maureen’s friends and family would also like to express their gratitude to her hospice nurse Melissa Clark.

In keeping with her wishes no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Asheville Humane Society and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.
