Martha Marie Martin, 79, of Chesnee, SC passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Columbus, NC. Born January 2, 1940 in Chesnee, SC, she was the daughter of the late C. J. and Corine Martin. She had a compassionate heart and enjoyed shopping. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Johnny Martin and grandson, Justin Thompson. Surviving are her children, Debbie Kimbrell and her spouse, Tommy, of Chesnee, SC, Lisa Thompson and her spouse, Marty, of Boiling Springs, NC, and Brent Martin of Kentucky; grandchildren, Breanna Thompson of Inman, SC, Jonathan Martin of Asheville, NC, Shannon Lawter and Brooks Lawter both of Spartanburg, SC; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to recognize the special care that was provided to Mrs. Martin over the past year by Andy and Kristy Black and Carolina of the Foothills Hospice.
