We left for vacation on July 8th and were gone for a week. We have have been wondering where Mark was. We had talked with him about moving a couple of days before we left and my wife talked to him the day before he passed. We thought maybe he had moved while we were gone. We are truly shocked and saddened by Mark's passing. He was one of the best neighbors we have ever had. You could not have asked for a kinder and nicer neighbor than Mark. He and I had collecting guitars in common and I always took my new conquests for him to see and pass judgement on. We will truly miss him and his quiet presence in our life.

I am so sorry I missed you all while I was cleaning out Mark's apartment. I think you arrived back home the last day I was there, and everything was so chaotic and emotional that I just couldn't face walking up to your door and delivering the sad news right as you were returning from vacation. My apologies for that. Mark was very fortunate to have had you as neighbors, and I know he shared a love of music and guitars with you. For me, it was just nice to know that he had someone next door with whom he could interact. It gave him a sense of community, which is so important and necessary. Thank you for posting . Janis

I am so grateful for having been around Mark for a little bit. He was able to share what he had learned from his life experiences in a way that helped me wrestle with mine. I miss him.
Peace be with his family and friends

A quiet, wry, sensible, fun-loving, all-round good person and he is gone way too soon. So deeply happy he got “back” to NC and we had three years of his good company here. Loved talking “family” with him, but also pizza, politics, music, and techie stuff that he understood and I didn’t. Mark was a class act, and I (and my dogs) will miss him so much. Peace, dear cousin.

Condolences are for Mark's friends and family left behind. Mark is in a place where the desert is never too hot, the music is always pleasant, and he is riding his Harley across the Southwest to visit friends. Mark's dream was to visit North Carolina, the NC cousins, the "Old Home Place", and he moved to NC and spent three years eating biscuits and barbeque and Southern food. His cross country venture bore fruit with new friends, a great job with SECU and wonderful coworkers, and time spent with cousins.

Mark was a true friend and had a heart of gold. He was at his happiest when we were rolling down the desert back roads getting some 'wind therapy'. Although I have missed him since he moved, I am happy that he had the opportunity to be with family. Keep the rubber side down, my friend.
