Leonard Mork Obituary

Leonard Carl Mork was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on September 1st, 1953. He was a multifaceted guy. He was a husband, a father, a son, an uncle, a brother, a grandfather. An animal lover, a musician, a hobbyist, an amateur botanist, a home chef. He was passionate from a young age about cooking (heavily influenced by his Swedish and Romanian heritage), singing, model building, and astronomy. In high school, his beautiful singing voice and trendy 1960's style landed him a cute girlfriend that his family all loved, Gail. They married shortly after graduation and remained a couple for 45 years, until Lenny died on July 25th, 2018.

Lenny was extraordinarily artistically inclined and so he attended the Cleveland Insitute of Art in 1976. He spent his 20's and early 30's living his life to the fullest; Lenny played guitar and sang in many bars and nightclubs, always around friends and loved ones, with his wife on his arm at a multitude of parties.

Life slowed down a little bit in their late 30's as Lenny and Gail moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Asheville, North Carolina. In 1986 Lenny had become a father for the first time to a son, Neil, and then again in 1988 to a daughter, Claire. He was truly an awesome dad and was wonderful with his children, always kind and caring. His 40's and 50's were spent with his family, as Lenny worked various jobs in Asheville, North Carolina. His passion with model kits and art remained true, as Lenny spent many nights staying up late working on hobby commissions.

The last bit of Lenny’s life was a mix of good and bad; His health unfortunately slowly declined just as his heart was full of love — his grandson Maverick was born in March 2017. Lenny LOVED his grandson. His great loves in the final year were simple for Lenny, his simple pleasures: coffee, weed, food, tv, video games. His legacy will be carried on by his family and friends.

We will have a Life Celebration at the Mork family home on Sunday, August 5th from 1-5pm at 32 Alclare Drive, Asheville, NC 28804.
