Welcome to the memorial page for

Judith C. "Judie" Mauney

January 15, 2018

Judith C. "Judie" Mauney, 81, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Deerfield Retirement Community in Asheville, NC.

A native of Durham, NC, Judie was the eldest of three girls born to Helen Greene Clark and Elon Henry Clark.  She attended Elon College and ultimately moved with her family to Asheville in 1970.  Judie was blessed with an extended, loving family, enduring friendships far and wide and an unwavering faith in God.  She was a front desk volunteer at Mission Hospital for many years and was a devoted member of The Cathedral of All Souls in Biltmore Village.  Judie was a lifetime Duke fan, an avid walker and a passionate gardener.  Over the years she found time to  travel with friends, play the occasional round of golf and tackle puzzle after puzzle.

Judie had many titles during her life - daughter, sister, wife, aunt, cousin, friend, volunteer, traveler - but the one she cherished most later in her life was that of grandmother.  She was 'Juju' to her ten grandchildren, each of whom brought her tremendous pride and joy.

Judie is survived by her three children and their spouses: Laura Mauney Foster and her husband Dan, of Cary NC, Michael Clark Mauney and his wife Cheryl, of St. Louis MO, and David Maxton Mauney and his wife Kim, of Sun Valley ID; loving grandchildren: Taylor, Griffin, Kellen, Owen, Aidan and Keiran Foster; Ryan Mauney; Natalie, Maxton and Mallory Mauney; her sister Ann Scoville and family, of Swannanoa NC.  She was predeceased by her parents as well as her sister, Joan Brendell Clark.

A memorial service celebrating Judie's life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00am at The Cathedral of All Souls, 9 Swan Street, Asheville.  A reception will follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Judie's memory be made to The Cathedral of All Souls.
