Horace Lewis Self, 75, of Asheville passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. Born on June 18, 1942 in Asheville, he was the son of the late Horace B. Self and Viva Lee McFeeture Self. He was a graduate of Lee Edwards H.S. and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Eaton Cutler Hammer after over 20 years of service. As an artist, he designed and crafted jewelry and possessed a special talent at working with scrimshaw. Surviving are his daughter, Selena Raper and her spouse, Curtis, of Arden; sister, Joyce Edwards of Hendersonville; and grandchildren, Cailyn and Caleb Raper.
