Welcome to the memorial page for

Elizabeth Goforth Nadeau

July 22, 2017

Elizabeth Goforth Nadeau was called home to our Lord and Savior on July 22, 2017 surrounded by her family. Betty, to all who knew her, was born on February 19th 1945 to Malcolm and Louise Goforth in Troy, AL and was a caring and loving individual throughout her life. She married Lawrence R Nadeau on July 2nd 1967 and was a dedicated mother to her two children in all aspects of their lives.

Betty grew up in Jacksonville, FL and graduated Ribault High School where she was a band member and a majorette even though she wasn’t much taller than the baton. She was an extremely successful business woman who owned and operated Suzuki of Orange Park with her husband for several years although her riding skills didn’t match…never grab the front brakes Mom. After selling the shop, the two moved the family to Keystone Heights, FL where she became the senior buyer for Clay Electric Co-op. Her life in Keystone was not only about her career, it also included her dedication to the community and local athletics. The couple retired in 2006 and moved to Otto, NC. Her favorite pastime was spent RVing the United States, which included trips to the Outer Banks, Mount Rushmore and Montana.

Betty is survived by her husband of 50 years, Larry Nadeau, her daughter Gabrielle Nadeau Brinley (Mark Brinley), her son Mike Nadeau (Mary Burke Nadeau), her grandchildren Matt Brinley, Megan Brinley, and Sydney Nadeau, and lifelong best friends Wilson and Mary Crites. She is proceeded in death by her father, mother, and brother, Robert Goforth.

Betty was a fighter all the way up to the end. She survived three cancers and five heart attacks before succumbing to complications with dementia. She is proof a positive attitude and a will to fight are more important than any medical opinion. Mom, the family is thankful you can put the gloves down and rest in peace…it’s well deserved.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the Four Seasons Elizabeth’s House in Flat Rock, NC.  Four Seasons Foundation Office, 571 S. Allen Rd. Flat Rock, NC 28731. www.fourseasonscfl.org
