Welcome to the memorial page for

Casey Aren Chesson

September 1, 2016

Casey Aren Chesson, 31, died on the morning of September 1, 2016. Casey was born on January 6, 1985 in South Bend, Indiana to Philip and Patty Chesson.

Casey called Tulsa, Oklahoma his home town. He moved to Asheville, NC 8 years ago, before the city became overwhelmed by “rich, white people who were ruining this town”. At the time of his death, he was enrolled as a student in the Mechatronics program at UNCA. Casey had a thirst for knowledge and loved working on electronics. Casey was an avid bike rider, often hitting the trails of Bent Creek with friends in his spare time. He loved fall and was getting excited about the change in weather. Casey also loved reading tedious science-fiction novels, usually reading 3 or 4 novels at one time. He was a great cook and was known for his guacamole, which he usually almost always set the smoke detector off while roasting peppers each time. Most of all, he loved his daughter “Cordy” and was looking forward to dressing her up for Halloween and taking her hiking. Casey was known and loved by so many people of different walks of life, always offering his time to those in need. He was a wonderful father, partner, son and friend.

Casey is survived by his partner Ashley Garner and their daughter Cordelia Chesson, as well as his parents Patty and Philip Chesson, sister Katy Chesson, brother Thomas Chesson, and his grandmothers Jean Williams and Mary Ruth Chesson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 10 2016 at 3:00 pm. A memorial ceremony will also be held at UNCA, TBD. Please check with UNCA to determine date and time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to www.oxfordhouse.org .
