Betty Phillips Obituary

Betty Lou Coulter Phillips, 91 of Asheville, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019. A native of Homestead, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lucy Gray Holdsworth Coulter. Betty graduated with a BA from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She also was a member of the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, of Aliquippa, PA. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Joseph Phillips; daughter, Shirley A. Phillips (Gary Jordan) of Asheville, NC; sister, Marian Campbell of McDonald, PA; and grandson, Michael Phillips Jordan (Christie) of Bladenboro, NC. Betty was an art teacher for 32 years in the public schools. She was a member of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, the Pittsburgh Society of Artists and the West Hill Art League. A memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.
