Barbara Byrd Brown, 75, of Candler passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the John F. Keever, Jr., Solace Center in Asheville. Born March 6, 1944 in New Orleans, LA, she was a daughter of the late Lamar Byrd and Ruth Galloway. She worked as a real estate broker and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed the majesties of all of God’s creatures. She was devoted to her children and adored her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Herman D. Brown; children, David and Daniel Brown; and brother, Nelson E. Byrd. Surviving is her son, Jonathan R. Brown and his spouse, Dena, of Asheville; sister, Marilyn Meece and spouse, Richard, of New Orleans, LA; and grandchildren, Bethany Brown, Abigail Brown, and Danielle Brown. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery at noon on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
