Ana "Anka" Basich

Anka Basich passed away April 12, 2018 at her home in Asheville, North Carolina. 
On May 19, 2018 a Celebration of Life will be held between 3:00-6:00 P.M. at the Jubilee Community, 46 Wall Street, Asheville NC. The service will be at 3:00 PM with the reception starting at 4:30 PM.  Parking is available in the Wall Street Deck or newly constructed Coxe Avenue Deck. Anka was born October 5, 1948 in Naples, Italy. The daughter of Milan & Amelia Basich, she was the second of four children: Brothers Anthony ‘Tony’ Basich, Michael Basich & sister, Teresa ‘Terri’ (Larry) Werner. The family immigrated to Nashwauk Minnesota in 1950. After briefly attending the University of Minnesota nursing program, Anka married Byron Brogan on August 15, 1970. They were married for 26 years & had five children. 

She is survived by her sister Terri; her sons Jeffrey Michael Brogan, Ryan James (Stacey) Brogan & Nicholas John (Cicely) Brogan; her daughters Elizabeth Ann Brogan & Kathryn Aileen Brogan; nine nieces & nephews, six great-nieces & nephews & two great-nieces & nephews. 

Anka was at peace in nature, saw magic in everyone & everything, & deeply connected with her children, family & friends. Her various spiritual group activities were an important part of her life. As one friend said, “She was the warmest half of all her loving hugs.” Anka was a special soul, whose kindness & caring touched every single person who knew her. Beloved by many, she will be dearly missed.
